Liberals in the Golden State have come up with yet another way to expand authoritarian control over the people who live there. It’s known as Senate Bill 1424, and it would basically eliminate all independent press in California, dubbing any information that establishment politicians disagree with as “fake news.”
If it ends up passing and being signed into law, SB 1424 will mandate that the California Attorney General create an advisory committee by April 1, 2019, to police the information that’s spread via social media and other platforms to determine whether or not it’s “true.” The state’s ministry of propaganda will then come up with a plan of attack to eliminate anything that’s deemed “false.”
Since “fake news” is a subjective term that varies in its substance depending on who you ask, there’s no real way to police it. But California politicians sure are going to try, and what it will mean (based on the vast majority of their political leanings) is the silencing of all dissenting viewpoints that don’t fit whatever official narrative the government is trying to push.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a freedom advocacy group, is vehemently opposed to the bill, having called it both “flawed” and “misguided.” Because there are already laws on the books that hold news outlets accountable whenever they print defamatory material, there’s simply no need to establish a ministry of “truth” that’s tasked with authoritatively declaring what information does and does not qualify as such.
“The group argues the measure would make the government and advisory group responsible for deciding what is true or false,” explains EFF about its position. “It also points out the First Amendment prevents content-based restrictions, even if the statements of ‘admittedly false.'”
This is hardly the first egregiously unconstitutional legislative bill to come down the pipeline in California. Many Natural News readers will recall the infamous Senate Bill 277, the legislative baby of corrupt Big Pharma shill Richard Pan, that eliminated all philosophical and religious exemptions for vaccines in the state of California.
There’s also AB 155, a newly proposed bill that would require public school teachers to indoctrinate their students about the concept of “fake news” – presumably framing it in terms of President Trump’s alleged “Russian meddling” in the 2016 presidential election that led to the spread of what liberals claim was “fake news” all over social media. And who could forget SB 48, yet another California masterpiece that requires public school children to be taught that transgenderism is completely normal and natural.
It’s all part of the lunatic left’s insidious plan to transform far-left states like California into certifiably Communist police states that control pretty much everything that people learn, eat, say, and inject or put inside their bodies. Freedom of choice, in other words, is on the verge of completely disappearing from the Left Coast in this regard, and all in the name of political correctness and “tolerance.”
Soon Californians won’t even be able to speak freely without facing some sort of penalty for the “crime” of saying the wrong thing. This is actually already in the works with regards to LGBT issues and sexual orientation with the introduction of AB 2943. As we recently reported, the threatening legislation would make it a crime for licensed psychologists and counselors to offer reparative or “conversion” therapy to willing individuals struggling with gender identity issues.
Political correctness will be the death of this nation, and certainly of freedom of speech. To keep up with the latest news, visit ThoughtPolice.news.
